Newly Released: AARP 2024 Home and Community Preferences Survey
AARP's annual Home and Community Preferences Surveys examine trends and preferences among adults regarding housing, transportation, and community features that support aging in place. As expected, stats stayed high on older adults expressing a desire to remain at home while they age. (75% for those 50+)
The surprise?
A notable increase among older adults acknowledging they might need to move, rising from 32% in 2018 to 44% in the new report.*
"Although most people prefer to remain in their current homes and communities as they age, many acknowledge that relocating could be a possibility in the future," according to the latest AARP Home & Community Preferences national survey.
What does this tell us?
Older adults are excited because they KNOW about modern senior living options?
or
Older adults are resigned to moving because they NEED TO KNOW about modern Aging in Place options?
Perhaps both, and much more.
A variety of factors are at play, including housing design limitations, health concerns, and evolving social and economic contexts.
